Question:

After Tonsillectomy Mouth Infection - Any Suggestions to Clear it Up?

Got a tonsillectomy 5 days ago and doing great. I'm already off the Vicodin liquid pain medicine and just on Motrin. Of course, still taking the clindamyacin. Only problem is, the areas where I got the tonsils taken out are gross white circles of infection. That is expected, as I understand, is expected. Yesterday, my tongue started to hurt and I started having little white chunks in my mouth that I could feel and pull out. When I got home I looked in the mirror and my tongue was a white mess (infection?). I made an emergency run to get some scope (looked for something with alcohol) and have been rinsing my mouth. The largest area I feel pain is in my tongue. My throat feels like a mild sore throat or like there's a popcorn shell stuck back there. The biggest problem is my tongue hurting.

Scope seems to be cutting down the tongue pain, any tips on how to clean out the infection ASAP?

  2. CALL YOUR DOCTOR!  NOW.  Don't s***w around with this.  You need to have a clear airway to breath.

If you begin to have trouble breathing, call 911 immediately and don't hang up until they tell you to.
