  1. I agree, put the box up somewhere high(er) and the mother will keep feeding them. She'll continue to take care of them, so leave them outside. It's fine to hold the babies when the mother isn't there (they usually get pretty angry if you're by the babies when they're watching and you might get wing buffeted) since birds don't have a great sense of smell, but don't take them away. Who knows, the birds might become "outdoors" pets of yours.

  2. If you have the box, put it in a high place for the mother and leave it. If she is still feeding the babies, she will continue to. do so after you leave them. If the mother bird is nowhere to be found (after observation from a distance), then look up a bird rescue in your area, or wildlife rehabilitator.

Do NOT attempt to raise the babies. Chances are they will not be given proper nutrition and care, or the lessons they will need to survive.

  3. as the others have said get the box up higher.  The mother is taking care of them so you need to back away and let her do her job.  you can watch from a distance to make sure they are okay.  You should not be handling birds that are to remain in the wild as,  tame birds have a low survival rate.  It is also against the law to raise a native bird as a pet.

NEVER feed worms, bread, milk, hamburger, crackers, etc.

NEVER put liquid in a birds mouth

They taught me how to raise a baby bird.

  4. Return these babies to their mother..if she is feeding them..you do NOT need to..nor should you.

If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly. You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered...then place the babies in a basket or pail with handle with grass etc. for warmth and tie them up into the nest tree so the parents can tend to them here.   Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.
