I added my taxes, which wasn't much and I didn't even file. And I was wondering if I could remove them after the school has already told me how much money they're going to give me??

  1. Well you can make any changes that you would like to your FAFSA.  But all of your information will go to the school and to the deciding department.  So that information is already there.  But you can go into the file again and take out your information, but do keep in mind that when you make that change, it will automatically go to the deciding department and to your school..

So then it will look like you did not file the current taxes for that year and it may require them to send you more paperwork as to why.  So I would keep as is, just to stop any questions or eligibility problems.

  2. Yes, you can correct mistakes.  But if your financial aid office has your stuff already, i would leave it up to them to correct.

If you didn't file a tax form, you could not have paid taxes.... at least not the way you are thinking.

The "amount withheld" on your W2 form is not the amount the want on your fafsa.  They want the amount you had listed on your tax forms.  If you did no taxes... this answer should have been skipped automatically on your fafsa because you should have answered "Will not file".

  3. your school financial aid advisors have amended applications for the form. You say you added your taxes, I'm not sure what you meant by that. do you mean that you filed your taxes after all so that you could get a Federal Stimulus check from the government? If so, that is not reported as income, so don't worry about it. But if there is a large change in reported income or out of pocket expenses, by all means, file an amendment, could make a large difference in the grant money you receive
