  1. NOTE: do not copy nothing until you read this.

    1 Log in as admin

2 create user names, assign passwords

    3 logout as admin

4 login as user(s) then log out.

5 log in as admin and make users admins

    6 Log in as user

7 copy the files to each folder DO NOT DRAG AND DROP THE WHOLE PROFILE.

    8. When you have finished copying the favorites, desktop, my documents etc. folders from the user's profile then log out

9 Log in as the user you just copied and check his files.

10 rinse and repeat for the rest of users.

Next time use the User state migration tool BEFORE wiping out the hard drive.

  2. You will need to re-create the names. This will NOT re-create the profiles, as they are controlled from a randomly generated SID in the first case. you will then need to copy the profile files to the hard disk, but will need to change their ownership to the new user manually. Otherwise they become unreadable.
