Question:

After a dog is pregnant...?

how long do I have to wait until she can be around a male dog again? I don't want them to mate again, obviously, so she doesn't have a huge litter or premature puppies. Is she fertile all the way till the end?

(I don't want to hear about spay and neuter, etc.... not the question here)

  1. nope once she is pregnant she is pregnant the male dog can be around her. She will tell him when he needs to go away. Be-careful about the male when the babies are born because he could hurt them, good luck

  2. ok, why don't you wan her to be spayed? If you are not using her for breeding and you don't get her fixed she can get really sick. Unspayed dogs usually get a lot of uterus infection and cancer. I have seen it happen to many many dogs in my life time. If you would just get her spayed that won't happen. I will put it like this, if you love her and don't want her to get sick or even die, get her spayed.

  3. my dog went through the 14 day cycle and then another 14-20 days after that some are less but this is what I went through when we breed our dog.  Your local vet maybe able to help you also

  4. females, come into season or heat every 6 months.

  5. She can be around a male again as long as she doesn't go into heat again.  Just check her often down there to make sure she's not swollen or bleeding.  Dogs aren't fertile their entire cycle.  Here's some information.

  6. They can be around each other, if she is already pregnant now she cant get pregnant tomorrow.

  7. If your dogs is on a normal 6 month cycle then she will go back into heat 6 month on the nose regardless of litter.

2 months of pregnancy + 4 months = back in heat. The fact you have to ask clearly shows you know nothing about breeding and shouldn't be doing so so guess what? Get you dogs fixed.

  8. omg - if you are on here asking these sort of questions I'm really scared for your b itch and her prospective litter.  Sorry, but spay and neuter are relevant words here.

Get yourself to some books on the subject - speak to your vet (you should have alerted him to your plans in any case, and had your b itch checked out, her shots brought up to date etc. by now!)

In the best interests of your b itch, she is only 'fertile' for as long as she's receptive (standing for him) to the male.  After that she will see him off in no uncertain terms.  Her season will last 21 days (although some do come out quicker after they have been mated).

All I can say here except this is so very sad!

  9. As long as she is releasing ripe eggs, she can be fertilized.  Multiple sire litters are not all that uncommon (each egg fertilized by a diff male so that all pups are half siblings to each other).  To fully prevent that,  keep her away from all other males until she is no longer fertile, at least 7 days after her last mating.

  10. Argh.

Why on EARTH are you mating your dogs when you have NO IDEA about dog breeding? You should not own animals!!

Mating a dog more than once does NOT give you more puppies! And female dogs do not have 'men', they have idiot owners like you.

Get your dogs fixed before you kill them.
