  1. No, but it should be able to glide gradually to the ground without a THUD.

  2. No they can jump with lots of height but they can not fly or hover with their wings clipped.

  3. In theory, clipping wing feathers is meant to deter flight.  Some species require more flight feathers trimmed because they are light weight, others like greys and Amazons need maybe 4 primary feathers trimmed.  The objective is to allow the bird to glide to the ground  to prevent injury.  If your greencheek is hovering the feather trim is incorrect and he can probably fly at least waist level for quite a distance.  So the answer is no it shouldn't be able to hover only glide to the ground.

  4. Depends on the bird and the clip.  There are several different ways to clip wings depending on how drastic of an effect you want to have.  Some birds with strong flight muscles can fly - gaining altitude - even with their wings freshly clipped.

I should note that a conure can't really hover no matter what it's wings look like.  That implies floating in one place, like a hummingbird.

  5. No hovering...the clipping of wings is to prevent flight, so they just go softly to the ground...or couch...or table...or wherever the little darlings land! Aren't they fun???kjl
