We have disposed of all furnishings and have taken the demolition down to basically the frame. however the still remains the smell. we hired a firn that installed 3 ozone machines without success. Have heard of some special sealant coating but am leery to use due to more cost waste.

  2. The smoke smell will be with you for many years.  Ozone treatment if a very good way to tackle the problem.  After my house fire I also used a product called Odo Ban.  It goes beyond just covering up the smell.  Below is the link to there site.  Good luck.

  3. Best thing to do is get rid of everything that was in the smoke zone.  Get rid of the source ~ get rid of the problem.

  4. spray a hundred cans of febreze in your house that should do the job

  5. It is very very difficult or impossible. Make sure your insurer understands the extent of the damage to goods, many of which will have to be replaced or professionally cleaned. Typically, you have to repaint, have carpet deep cleaned or replaced, etc. I have seen $5,000+ in loss from nothing more than meat burning on the stove. For very light smoke, we carried a fogger with a scented solution on the fire truck, but it won't handle even moderate smoke. People have no idea how bad even a small house fire is.
