  1. Check the power panel / fuse box if you don't have a red reset button in the bathroom on the outlet they may have been really cheap (like they did in my house) and linked both bathrooms and the outside receptacles on one GFI circuit breaker in the power panel. Try reseting the breaker a few times it may not have caught.

  2. The outlets that are close to a water source should be a GFCI outlet. They have a TRIP and RESET button on them. Press the reset button. Sometimes, they will wire multiple outlets together on a GFCI.

Our house has 3 bathroom outlets, the washing machine outlet in the garage and a outlet outside on the same circuit. You may need to look around. It sounds like a GFCI got tripped or even the circuits inside got fried.

  3. Call in a qualified sparks, English by-laws do NOT allow sockets in bathrooms or toilets.  You could be breaking your insurance agreements

  4. Try ALL of the breakers.  Also, most bathroom outlets have a reset button on them.  Press that button.

EDIT:  If there is no red reset button, your bathroom may not be up to code and may need to be rewired.  If you just moved into the house, hopefully the seller provided a home warranty.  (I was told to make sure before I purchased) That is pretty much how I got some of my electrical work done.

If you don't have a home warranty (bwt, my house was built in the late 70's, so you can get one with pretty much any house.), you may be able to get something with full disclosure and still get the seller to cover part of it, but not sure about that part.

You can also try going to home depot and pick up some parts and ask people, but for God's sake, be careful.  Cut stuff off and remember that paranoia and electricity mix very well.

  5. Idk

  6. The bathroom plug should be on a GFI , it may be a plug or a breaker type, the plug may be some where elese, another bathroom , kitchen or basement

It is very common for lightening to blow out GFI's

  7. if they are switches like the light switch to enter a room, sometimes you have to switch all  of them off then turn them all back on.

  8. The Dweeb is correct.  There should be a small red button on your outlet.  Press it.  It should work now.
