After a series of tests, Acclamation back in training
There were no race goals mentioned by trainer Donald Warren for his 2011 champion older male, Acclamation, but he has resumed training at Santa Anita Park after series of medical tests on the champion.
Acclamation was found unsound, and therefore the connections wanted to do some tests to make sure what the problem was, but the x-rays, nuclear scans and blood tests have shown nothing that is why Warren has resumed light training before a race is decided
for Unusual Heat son.
“We hadn’t trained him in three or four days to make sure we did all the X-rays, nuclear scan, and blood tests,” Warren said. “We’ve done all the things you can do. We’re not sure what was bothering him. It’s nothing major.”
On 8 May, 2012, Warren said that Acclamation started jogging, and he will come back to his normal training in no time after being out of training last week.
Bred in California by Old English Rancho, Acclamation closed out his last season with a brilliant five graded race win streak – which started with a win in the Grade 2 Jim Murray Handicap at Hollywood Park, and he stayed there to win the Grade 1 Charles
Whittingham Memorial Handicap.
Two of his wins came at the Del Mar season, where he landed the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes at about 1 1/8 miles, and on the synthetic surface he won the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at a mile and quarter.
His first ever win at the Santa Anita Park’s unique turf course came in the Grade 2 Hirsch Turf Championship at about 1 ¼ miles, where he defeated Champ Pegasus in second and Imponente Purse in third.
This year he was supposed to start in the Grade 3 Inglewood Stakes at Hollywood Park, but he was withdrawn from the race because of a problem in his ankle.
Start in the Grade 2 Mervyn Leroy was thought about, but they had to bypass it because of the undergoing battery tests.
“The vet, Bud and me have 100 years of experience,” he said. “We’re not going to run unless all three of us feel comfortable.”
