  1. this gave him a lot of confidence and he can definitely get a good finish at daytona hes got 2 wins there this is perfect for Mikey becuz its right before daytona and he could get his 5th career win or a good top ten or five

  2. Too bad his second place finish had to come with the rain. People may criticize his good finish and say he got lucky! (Which he did) They may also say that it will most likely never happen again.(Which it probably won't) Sorry to all those Mikey fans out there, I just don't think he has what it takes in those cars. Then again if he got some better equipment under him, I think he could be a good contender for the cup.

  3. That was pure luck, if it weren't for the rain, i'm sorry to say, he would not have made it in the top 20.

  4. I heard Richard Petty's planning a comeback, too.

  5. solid rain called run...he is doing better, but chase, I dont know

  6. He lucked (short pitted) into that 2nd place finish...had it gone green, he would have finished where he normally does 20-30th place.

  7. You need to take all of the money that you can get together and put it on Mikey to win next week ! ! !

  8. No, he got lucky.

  9. what race were u watching if that race stays green they pass mikey like he is standing still...i like mike but he has a long way to go

  10. That's hard to say, since the race was red-flagged for rain shortly after a caution. You can't say that for winner Kurt Busch, though he certainly appreciates it. His Penske teammate, Ryan Newman, was 7th prior to the yellow flag but got lost in the shuffle in the pits.

  11. He only got there by timing, luck and rain.  But, it might boost his self-esteem and help his confidence a bit.  He's been struggling a long time with his new team, and now divorce.  It can't be easy for him.  Maybe this helped to re-establish his drive to win and he will do better?

    Go Jr.>>>>

  12. I like Mickey but the 2nd place run doesn't mean he is back on track. He is going to need at least 5 more top 5's this season before i start even considering he is back on track

  13. No this was not a full race there was still close to 35-40 laps left the whole top 5 got lucky if the had run the whole race Kurt problem would be the only one in the top 5 to finish in the top 10 they were all low on gas..... the top 5 raced the rain you cant tell much on waltrip's performance until he runs a successful full race but yes he made a good decision on staying out

  14. The 09 Champion -- hard to say anything could happen between now and then. who woudl have thought last year that Kyle Busch would have as many wins as he has.

09 Chase -- once again hard to say. but that is a more reachable goal then the championship if everything goes his way.

as for the jump start he it is definately the jumpstart he needed. for the last 10 laps before the caution that he, Kurt, J.J. and company stayed out,  he was was one of the top 10 fastest cars on the track. and was actually catching Kurt Busch at a rate or 3 tenths of a second a lap. he set himself up to be there at the front regardless of whether a caution came out of if it stayed green. the top 7 all had enough fuel to go to the end no problem. so dont say it was the rain that he raced he had that strategy set up when he pitted with 70 or 80 to go.

My prediction dont be surprised if he is the car to beat at Daytona.

  15. Probably not.

  16. Hey I have been saying all along give that guy a chance and see what he can do when he is the last car on the lead lap and it rains and he doesn't pit. That is, if he doesn't wreck himself and others and in the garage by the third lap, and if he could just learn how to drive. You bet he's a contender.  And if he doesn't walk away with the championship, well he could get the trophy for the most DNF's.

  17. this is not jokes and entertainment

  18. I think you are right.  It will be between Mikey and Reed Sorenson next year, you just wait and see!  LMAO

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  19. Yeah he will win this Saturday.

  20. Michael got lucky, as did Kurt Busch and JJ Yehle.  If the race had gone it's entirety, Michael would probably have finished somewhere from 15th to 20th.  Remember one of his Daytona wins was a rained out shortened race.  Michael Waltrip is a good guy, but not a championship contender, never has been.

  21. WTF...I'm sorry....I'm completely disagree

    He was lucky..Duh!...ANYONE realize that?

Gordon could've have won! Denny was in position TO win

But, on the good side, it is a momentum-builder...

That much I will tell you is true

This has no link to him being a contender....

    It was pure luck

I don't hate Michael, but I think his organization is not ready yet

I laugh at the thought that Michael could win the 2009 Championship!!!???

With so many legitimate contenders, surely Michael cannot be a contender

    Well, not as of now....

By the way, David g-24 Rules has a good point

    You should do that

  22. i doubt it!!

    Go Kasey Go!!

    # 9 all the way baaaby!!

  23. No, he is not back on track

No, this is not a start for him.

No, he is not letting us know right now that he will be in the chase next season.

No, Michael Waltrip does not win the 2009 Cup Championship.

He was in the right place at the right time for him to get that 2nd place finish.  His car is not nearly as good as 2/3 of the other cars out there, and his driving skills are starting to diminish.

  24. Was he ever on track to begin with?
