After a spirited performance in the Hopeful, Trinniberg is nominated for the Nashua and the Champagne at Belmont Park
The runner-up in the Grade 1 Hopeful at Saratoga, Trinniberg, shell shocked his opponents and their connections when he turned in an impressive run, only to be outclassed by Currency Swap, on 5 September, 2011.
The Grade 1 Hopeful was the feature race for 2 year-old males on the closing day of the Saratoga meet, run over a distance of seven furlongs.
Trained by Bisnath Parbhoo for owner Shivananda Parbhoo, Trinniberg was sent on the odds of 68 to 1, and he nearly pulled off a stunner on Labour Day, but now the colt has been summoned back home in South Florida.
The season might take an interesting turn for the 2-year-old Teuflesberg colt, because it is highly likely that the colt will be up and racing again.
Bisnath Parbhoo revealed that after the Grade 1 Hopeful result, Trinniberg is nominated for both the Champagne and the Nashua stakes, and he will be going to New York to compete in either of them.
The Nashua Stakes is to be held on 2 October, and the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes is to be run on 8 October, both at Belmont Park.
Out of Bella Dorato, Trinniberg has had three starts so far, breaking his maiden on 8 July, 2011, at Calder racecourse, on dirt.
He won the maiden stakes' weight race in his first attempt, covering the five furlong distance in 59.24 seconds under jockey J Alvarez.
He then made his second appearance in the Grade 2 Saratoga Special, and this time he had 6 ½ furlongs to contend on the dirt course, but the juvenile colt rolled in 5th on 15 August, 2011.
Grade 1 Hopeful was Trinniberg’s third start in all, and as a long shot he wasn’t expected to turn the tables on Currency Swap and Big Blue Nation, but he gave them a scare when he toed the field till the late stretch, only to get run down by Currency Swap
to finish second in the seven furlong event.
It all depends on how well Trinniberg trains, and if he trains well as his connections expect him to, then surely he will be pointed to both of these races.
