  1. Haha

Swimming is definitely one of the hardest exercises you can do because You use both your arms and your legs at the same time and you have limited breathing. Its all part of the process and yeah, you have to work up to it. Michael Phelps has trained for more than ten years. And to be really good like that you have to average about 3 practices a week AT LEAST. Because if you don't you'll start to lose your technique slowly. I'm a competitive swimmer and I would love to go to the Olympics one day!

  2. Spaghetti-legs is more a symptom of fatigue than lactic acid in my opinion :P. Whenever I get too much lactic acid on my muscles, I cramp and tighten up. The jelly is just from exertion. Regarding your quest to get in shape swimming - don't give up - 45 minutes is pretty darned good for someone with no prior training in the pool. Keep going on a regular basis and you'll notice the difference after only a couple weeks I bet :)
