Im really curious, after I give birth, and after the after-birth stuff all comes out, will I keep bleeding? I heard you need to bring some sanitary pads to the hospital, so do you bring heavy ones or light ones? And doesn't it take weeks or months for your period to start again after pregnancy? My question is what kind of pads do i take to the hospital? (not looking forward to this part LOL :(

  1. i bleed really heavy for the first week, second week - similar to a light period. 3rd week - only needed a pantiliner, 4th&5th week - very light and random - some days nothing oter days very light! Son is now 5.5weeks, and only have very light random discharge! cant wait for it to stop!

  2. extra long overnight with wings---bring a pack or two with you but buy like 4 packs

  3. you will bleed off and on, the hospital supplies them for you. The first few days will be kinda heavy, it all depends on the person. It might take weeks.

  4. Most hospitals (at least the ones in the US, I'm not sure if it's standard in other places) will provide these ugly mesh panties and these humongous diaper-like pads. You will go through several of them, and probably by the time you are discharged you will be down to the heavy ones. You will bleed for at least two weeks, I'd say, maybe up to a month.

As for your periods, well, everyone is different. Some women will ovulate again before they even leave the hospital, some won't start again for more than a year. Just be sure to remember that there is NO safe time period to have unprotected s*x after birth, even if you're breastfeeding. Breastfeeding will delay your period in many cases, but it likely won't stop it.

Pack about three or four heavy absorbancy pads in your bag, just in case your hospital doesn't have any. That is enough that someone could run home and get you more, but not to much that if you don't need them, they're in the way.

  5. You need to take super plus pads into hospital with you, as you bleed LOTS!!

  6. Holly molly you will bleed forever.  But the hospital will have special pads and "underwear" for you.  Just bring some heavy pads for the ride home.

  7. Most hospitals will provide some rather large diaper like maxi pads. But you should probably bring some heavy overnight pads for coming home in. As far as bleeding goes it will taper off within a good week or so and if your breastfeeding, you may not have another period for a while. But if you aren't it could be 1 or 2 months. Bear in mind that breastfeeding is NOT birth control. Use another means of protection wether it be the pill or something else. Good luck.

  8. Yep, you definitely bleed. The hospital actually supplies your pads so you don't have to take any unless you want to. Every person is different about the bleeding but on average, after you have the baby you will bleed 4-6 weeks. Then it depends on whether you are breast feeding, or getting on Birth control on how long before you next period. In total it usually takes 3-6 months for your periods to become regular so it could be anytime after  your initial bleeding. You may not bleed at all for a few months. Every person is different! Good luck and its really not as bad as it sounds. (BTW, you dont bleed really really heavy for the whole 4-6 weeks, after a few days it will slow down to just a trickle.

  9. you are gonna bleed like 3x worse than a period. maybe worse, lol. it is terrible!

actually, you can take your own, but get like the jumbo long ones that look like a snake. ALSO, the hospital gives you some. i think i used like 2 packages while i was there! it was really bad. then i was even wearing 2 at once. you will bleed for a  few weeks and then you will start getting your period like normal i think a month later but i cant remember. you can also talk to your doc!

    congrats!
