  1. Well I am currently 25 weeks and my hips have gotten wider. I can feel it and I have the stretch marks to prove it. I don't know if they stay wider or not (this is my first baby) but I would assume they do because I can't imagine how they would go back to normal? b***s I can see going back down... but hips? I don't know.

Maybe a mother will come along to help?

  2. the cartilage can soften and so let the hips widen a little temporarily but you don't really get wider ...

  3. While pregnant yes your hips do get wider to enable the baby to come through the birth canal the pains are called round ligament pains if i recall correctly and it can be a little bit painful at times but its not at all as bad as your thinking its giving birth that hurts. and don't worry your hips will go back to normal size after you have had the baby.

    I Hope this helps

  4. Some women do get wider hips.  Carrying the baby alone makes your hips spread a bit.  Also,  as the baby is being born, your hips widen more to allow room for the baby to pass through.  Of course it's uncomfortable, but it certainly isn't the worst part of child bearing!

  5. Yes they do spread but mine never were to point that I could not fit in my pre pregnancy clothes after birth.  I'm going in2 39 weeks and my hips have not gotten bigger .

With any pregnancy there are going to be several aches and pains everywhere .

Like a poster stated don't listen too much to all the horror stories . Just because one person had a bad experience does not mean you will .

  6. Some people it can be painful as the hips spread but it usually happens during pregnancy not after because they spread so the baby has room to wiggle out of you. Some people bounce right back to the size they were after pregnancy others it takes alittle longer.  Dint listen to horror stories because in the end everyone is different and no two pregnancies are the same.

  7. Your hips do spread a little when you're in labor to allow room for the baby to come out, and if it hurts, i don't know because it is kind of overshadowed by the pain of the baby coming out, lol. My hips have widened enough where I am just 1 size bigger in clothes, but it's really not that noticeable. I also have noticed that my ribcage is a little wider too, guess this is where the baby probably snuggled up in there a little.
