After completing OCS how competitive is it to become an Army Field Artillery Officer?

  1. One of the many joys of OCS (aside from being the quickest way to get a commission) is that the soon-to-be 2LT does NOT get to choose his or her own branch.  Yes, they must fill out a "wish list" for branch choice, but selection of branch in the top three is in no way guaranteed.  However, for a male officer, Field Artillery is not the hardest branch to get into, although it is definitely not the easiest.  If I had to estimate, a male OCS candidate probably has between a 30% and 50% chance of getting FA, provided that was in the top of his "wish list".
