Question:

After effects of childhood sexual abuse

Generally after I have an anxiety attack/flashback pertaining to my abuse I find myself wanting s*x, perhaps as a way of convincing myself that he didn't have any effect on me. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to deal with it?

  1. You should talk to a Licensed  therapist. Only they can diagnosis and give you the information you need.

  2. no dear

  3. I know nothing of your case/experiences amd therefore please treat my answer as general guidelines and if you are not doing so already seek professional help.

Often in abuse scenarios the abuser gains the confidence and affection of their subject/victim. This often instills a sense of trust and even love in the abuse. This is especially so if the abused is a child. Children often accept abuse as part of a loving relationship with an adult. Of course mixed messages also often occur (threats of violence if the child tells of the abuse, mixed with mesages of love whilst the abuse is taking place). Our childhood experiences form "social guidelines" for our future behaviours. Those who seek s*x as an adult often associate s*x with abuse with love or acceptance. By having s*x, the adult is reafirming that they are lovable and people do want to love them. This is often a result of the abuser manipuklating the child into beliving that no one else would ever love them apart from the abuser.

Often in these cases, individuals feel guilt or displeasure during or after s*x, and as a result continue to have regular anonymous s*x to try and recreate a feeling of intimacy and worth with another.

There are very successful therapies for those with these difficulties. some find s*x Addiction services helpful, others use pychotherapy/CBT/other talking therapies to help them manage their behaviours and move on. It is also important to remeber that you have done nothing wrong, and that the situation is, with hard work, managebale and there is a lot of support out there for you.

    Good luck.

  4. This is normal in some ppl's cases. However, you should definitely seek help because though you want to believe it had no effect on you it did!
