After end of trade deadline, St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson focused on game – NFL News
St. Louis Rams star running back Steven Jackson, who was in the headlines during the last few days regarding rumours around his trade, has said that he is keeping his focus only on the game.
A lot of rumours had been doing the rounds that the Rams would trade Jackson this week. However, it did not happen and almost all the teams stayed inactive in trade deals.
Although Rams head coach Jeff Fisher had made it clear that the team was not going to trade Jackson, the rumours refused to die down before the trade deadline was officially over.
Jackson, who has been playing for the Rams since starting his National Football League (NFL) career in the 2004 season, has said he is not offended or distracted with the fact that the team evaluated its options before the trade deadline.
The running back understands this business and believes that there is nothing wrong for any team or any player to consider different options that could guarantee long-term success.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Jackson said:
“I understand that this is a business and that if a particular team has options or are taking phone calls, doesn’t mean they want to get rid of me. It’s just the interest of other teams and seeing what may happen or may transpire with my contract, especially, it may be in there at the end of the season. I’m not offended by it, nor am I going to be distracted by it.”
That being said, Jackson is now keeping all his attention towards improving his team’s record. Rams are currently on a three-game losing streak as they head to their bye week. Also, they are placed at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) West after winning only three out of their eight games this season.
Jackson is hoping to get better results out of the second half of the season. He said:
“I’m ready to go into this bye week, get away for the weekend, but come back ready to finish strong these next eight games.”
The Rams will face current NFC West leaders San Francisco 49ers after their bye.
