  1. hmm, i have never heard anything about this. interesting...

  2. I flew east coast to west coast with a 2 week old. It was probably the best time to do it- he slept the entire time. I had to wake him to feed him and he immediately went back to sleep. It's when they're older that they seem to have more problems- with patience, boredom, etc.

  3. I flew from Brisbane, Australia to Brussels, Belgium which included a sixteen hour stopover in China when my son was two and a half months old. He slept most of the way but I still had to walk him up and down the aisles several times. On the way back however, he cried most of the time and threw up in the aisle of the plane.

I'd recommend giving your baby a dummy or a bottle during take off and landing because of the changes in air pressure and before you fly check with the airlines about their rules on the amount of formula/bottled water/medicines you can bring on the plane with you.

As for yourself, if you're feeling up to it than it is perfectly safe, make sure you get a check up for both yourself and your baby before you leave though.

  4. This is a great age for air travel, just nurse the baby whenever s/he gets upset/hungry, plus for takeoff and landing.

A sling or wrap is fantastic for keeping baby happy during a flight, too.

  5. I flew from west coast to east coast with a 2 and a half month old baby. I did consult the doctor first though and she gave me an OK. It was fine for both him and me. I had to feed him a bottle during take of and landing to see that it doesn't hurt his ears. He cried a bit during the flight more due to feeling claustrophobic than hurting in his ears. I just rocked him to sleep and he did fine. Try to fly off peak times so that you get at least one empty seat next to you. I am flying tomorrow again and he is 7 months now and already crawling and sitting. We'll see how that goes. But at 2 months he most probably will just sleep and be happy to be with you.

  6. I flew with my son when he was 3 months.  I just made sure that he had a bottle or soother upon takeoff and landing.  It was actually a nice flight and the white noise of the plane lulled him to sleep!

Just to note - if it is alonger flight, make sure to get up and walk around for a few minutes every 2 hours.  This will help prevent blood clots in your legs.  Also make sure to keep hydrated.

  7. yes, i flew on a plane with my baby when she was 6 weeks. just make sure you have a bottle while taking off and landing. first off cause all the shaking and second because of the air pressure. if you have someone going with you great, i didn't and it was harder. we also flew when she was 3 months and that was even harder cause shes more alert. but it will be fine good luck!
