  1. Going to a community college is A LOT cheaper than going to a university. What I am doing is taking all of my common courses - english 101, macroeconomics, etc - at a community college, and then transferring to a University.

  2. Depends on what you want to do. If you are really not sure what you want a degree in, then you should take the basic courses in the community college to save money; then, you can transfer to a UC school once you know what you want a degree in. If you already know what you want a degree in, then you should definitely go to a UC school.

  3. It depends on your field of study and your budget.

Community college is very inexpensive compared to a UC system university. However, take into account the following:

    1. Some universities will require you to finish your lower division (2 years) at a CC before transferring.

    2. Check with the UC university which CCs are more "suitable" for that same university. E.G. Diablo Valley College is well considered for U.C. Berkeley. Vista Community College is not that well considered by UCSF.

    3. Make sure you can achieve the transfer requirements. If you are not sure, you might want to take up on straight into the UC university.

    Best of luck

  4. Going to a community college is almost always a good idea.  You can get your basic courses for substantially lower costs and most, if not all, 4 year colleges will accept those courses for their degree programs.  You should contact them to make sure that is the case.  In many instances you will get better instruction at a community college because of smaller class size, resulting in more individual attention.  Also getting an associate's degree shows that you can start a program and complete it.

  5. no point in wasting money at an expensive school, when you can get the same for less.....

if you can qualify for a full-boat four-year scholarship, then go for it.....
