I had 11 teeth pulled 5 days ago, the missing teeth were replaced with a plate.. Today I notice my tongue coated in white and a burning sensation.. as the evening came, my tongue has become whiter, patchier, and the burning, stinging sensation has become worse. I am mainly worried because when I take my teeth out, I find my tongue rubbing over the open sockets.. I'm wondering if this is something I can wait til Tues, because of Holiday weekend to speak with a doctor or if this is something serious enough that I should call them Saturday morning. I have rinsed with peroxide and water, and also with listerine, but nothing seems to help and it seems to be getting worse.. Thanks..

  1. I don't know about the procedure, but I know any dental work you rinse with -salt water-, anything else could harm the healing process.  The white may have been caused by the peroxide.  Salt water rinses are your best bet.  Calling your dentists office on Sunday, or as early as possible is probably best.

  2. you can call your dentist his answering service will answer and he can call you in a script for nystatin, prounouced n-eye-stat-in. you had major dental surgery which tells me you were having antibiotics and thrush is a side effect of antibiotics. if you call the doctor now,he will call you back.tell the answering service you got thrush from the antibiotics and need him to call a script in to your pharmacy.no need to spend more money on an office visit.it will get very much worse by tuesday.call asap and tell the answering service, i have thrush from the antibiotics and need him to call a prescription into my pharmacy and have your pharmacy number ready.
