after high school i would like to go live in Dublin, Ireland most likely with a friend so it would be easier. right now my grades are pretty low (hardly passing) and my only passion is music (i play electric guitar). originally im from eastern europe and been living so far 6 years in canada. soon im finally getting my passport. i know it wont be easy, but i am sure about this. i was thinking about being a bartender here once i turn 18/19.

what kind of stuff do i need to live over there and get a decent job? (by decent i mean a pound or two above min wage, just enough for me to live in an apartment, and have enough food.)

  1. "Ireland is still relatively poor compared to the States and Britan "

im sorry, but who told u that? its one of the richest countries in the world! its one of the most expensive to live in and its economy is booming! so the fact u think its poor is a very misguided fact.

So to answer your question, yes you need good qualifications if u want to get a good job but the most likely option to go for is as u said bar work or waitressing.

dublin is very very expensive. a pint of beer is about 6 euros which is about 9USD. an apartment in dublin is generally expensive but gets cheaper as you go away from dublin.

there are always other options, not just dublin... there are many more amazing places to live and work in ireland that i think are so much nicer than dublin and that are cheaper!!

    good luck xx

  2. Your best option would to come to Ireland on a Student Visa .

    For music studies check out

There are other sites and colleges as well - do a Web search

There are also part time and evening courses that may have small fees or free

Best of luck with the Music

  3. You really need to have a college level education to get any kind of a decent job. Ireland is still relatively poor compared to the States and Britan and anything bellow a college level diploma isnt going to help you at all. Just the facts man. Getting certified in something is also an option , much shorter training time and still helps out more then a highschool diploma.

  4. if you have a passport from the european union, then thats all you need. on the other hand, if you dont, then you will have to apply for a work permit through the embassy, which isnt so easy. you have to prove that you have a certain amount of money and what you were doing before.
