After hooking up my new hdmi cord the picture is pefect but have no sound now....but....?

but i do have sound if i go back to the regular digital cable. onve i put the tv back on the hdmi setting the picture is there but the sounds then goes off? why

Make sure your set-top is set to output audio over HDMI in PCM (not Dolby Digital).

Many TVs can't decode Dolby Digital over HDMI.
