My friend (Indian citizen) was staying illegal in Japan. He was arrested. court case was there and he was declared illegal and deported. This is a criminal case.

Now he wants to go as a tourist to other countries. Is that possible?

He wants to migrate to Canada - is it possible?

If wants to work in Middle East - is that possible.

All these considering that his passport has been stamped for illegal stay and his record is not OK now.

Request advice.

  1. Deportation from one country is grounds for entry to be refused to all other countries.  Obviously, the prospective countries can decide to let him in but he has hurt his chances greatly.  As to migration to Canada, or working in the Middle East, unlikely that he will be allowed to.

  2. He's going to have a difficult time since he couldn't respect the laws in one country and decided to overstay. He may apply for a tourist visa but the Canadian embassies and any other embassy will look upon him harshly considering that he was deported (he might be more favourably looked upon if it was a voluntary departure). It can also depend on how long he was staying illegally in a country and how long ago was he departed.

It will be up to the individual embassies to decide whether or not he can go to those countries. I'm afraid your friend brought this onto himself.
