After learning Calculus and not using it, what do you forget, and how long would it take to relearn it?

  1. Oh man, it's been years, 5 years. Unless you're going to use it in your profession it's really pointless. I only remember the basics. I could probably relearn it really fast though.


  2. the shortest span of time i think of learning it again is in four-five years (learning the basics) and a year for a complete study.

    what would be left with what you remember are the things that are easier for you when you are taking calculus. the more difficult and the harder you grasp for the topic, the higher the tendency is forgetting it.


  3. As someone who took calculus in high school and first year university, and never used it again. I would say it all goes pretty quickly. As part of my PhD I am using calculus and trigonometry, and while I remember that there are rules about derivatives, and how to deal with equations, I find if it wasn't for the internet (Wikipedia especially) I would be drowning.  I think with instructor-led sessions, the basics would come back very quickly.
