After losing Albert Pujols, Chicago Cubs ready to go for Prince Fielder’s free agency
Albert Pujols’ signing with the Los Angeles Angels has created great hype among the baseball fans. His 10 year deal worth $254 million has brought him in the limelight instantly affecting many other Major League Baseball teams including the Chicago Cubs
who was also after him for a potential offer to play for their franchise.
However, Pujols made a more lucrative deal with the Angels and left all those other teams in dismay. On the other hand, Pujols signing with the Southern Californian franchise made several teams interested in Prince Fielder’s free agency.
Recently some media reports are referring to the desperate efforts of Chicago Cubs whose management is now focusing more on Prince Fielder and trying to get in contact with his agent Scott Boras.
According to sources, Fielder’s agent Boras has addressed all the MLB teams about the conditions of his client’s contract with any franchise. He has spoken in the media and stated that Fielder will appreciate more if any team comes up with ten or seven year’s
deal as short contract is not suitable for him and especially against his will at the moment.
Regarding the Cubs’ late interest to sign Fielder, Scott Boras said, “As to what level of interest [the Cubs have] you should probably ask them on what bases they will negotiate, Any team that wants to get better whether they are a younger team or a veteran
team or a club that wants to win now, not many teams that are in need can pass up a core player like this.”
Nevertheless, the Cubs’ management is all set to make a new offer to Fielder, but still they are looking out for a potential right time to finalise the whole offer. With very few weeks in hand, the Cubs however, have to come up with a deal that is extra
worthy for Fielder to stop other teams’ interest to take Fielder away.
The current financial situation of Chicago Cubs is also very viable to bring Fielder into the franchise for a much more competitive and sustainable performance in the upcoming seasons.
