  1. I married an American, and as Permanent resident, I went to work right away!  It depends on what kind a visa you have!  I came over to specifically MARRY my husband, not on a holiday visa! Go talk to your consulate and the American one too!  If you declare you intend on spending the rest of your life here, I don't see why they can't grant you a permanent visa!

  2. After you got married, you have to fill out a whole bunch of paperwork - including translated documents like birth certificates, etc.

When you turned all these in and paid the fees ( i think it was like $1400 ) - then it takes around 90 days to get you employment authorisation card.

From there it takes another 6 months to get the invitation to the immigration interwiev.

If that goes ok, it takes a couple of weeks to get you conditional green card.

  3. Within a couple months. Apply, wait for your appointment letter and it is quick and easy. Everyone told us 2 years, it will take forever but it was so easy. It may have alot to do with what country your coming from.

  4. As my lawyer told me  wait 3 months after you nget married, then apply for the permanent residence and in around 2 o 3 more months you will recive your EAD employment authorization document, and around 6 month after that your green card

  5. About 2 years.

  6. If you enter on a fiancee visa you get work authorisation about 3 months after you apply for it. You can apply the day you marry if your paperwork is all organised.
