guinea pigs. They live 10-12 years, are cute, and are loyal pets till' the end.

Get a guinea pig definitely. They are so cute cuddly and comforting. They are trainable and don't require to much work just a lot of love. They make noises to tell you there mood and enjoy being held and don't bite. You can't help but fall in love with them. And from personal experience they make much better pets than hamsters.

Is he sick? If he is not then you probably don;t need any pets. You don;t get one and then dream of what to get after it dies. You love it and care for THAT ONE.

Is your hamster sick? i think you should put every ounce of love towards him right now and not to think about another pet. you shouldn't be all excited about getting a new small animal because it is disloyal to your pet whos life is ending. but anyway i recommend rats. they are adorable and extremely smart they are always there for you and are more interactive than a guinea pig, but i also love guinea pigs so it depends on your life style. good luck !!! : )
