After removing Rubik's Cube stickers, should I use WD-40 to clean the surface of my cube?

I heard that WD-40 melts the cube, but does that only apply to the inside, because it's going through a lot of friction? is it safe for the cube if i use a towel with WD-40 sprayed on it to clean off the glue left on by the stickers?
