After respectable debut, Yahilwa set to spark in 32Red.com Maiden Fillies´ Stakes at Wolverhampton
Broughtons Charm is well prepared to set the standards after a credible third on debut at Kempton. But the preference should be given to Yahilwa, who entered a few notebooks when capturing the third spot on her first trip last month.
The 2-year-old is expected to show more improvement to seal the top rank in the 32Red.com Maiden Fillies´ Stakes at Wolverhampton on Monday, October 8th.
In the hands of Tom Queally, Yahilwa showed some inexperience on debut, but still finished well for third. Yarmouth’s British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Fillies' Stakes saw her making a steadied start.
The James Tate-trained took keen hold early on, but held up in the midfield. She switched left a couple of furlongs before the wire, and ran green entering the final stages. The filly stayed on to go third in the final 75 yards, but never threatened the
leaders.
As a result, she ended up third by two and a quarter lengths. Although she has plenty of questions to respond, her debut act was full of positives. Owned by Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum, the daughter of Medaglia D´Oro is likely to come up with an improved
effort this time.
A total of 13 horses have entered the class 5 contest. The competition will be held over five furlongs and 216 yards. The £3,235 event is going to get started at 15:00 GMT.
Broughtons Charm is another talented filly, who did well on debut. In the class 5, Sportinglife.com E B F Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Kempton, she found only a couple of horses too strong. Under Stevie Donohoe, the 33-1 chance did not begin well, but an excellent
finish helped her take the third place in the final 100 yards.
Meeting in Paris also showed plenty of promise when third on debut at Thirsk. Brian Meehan’s charge is also in a good state to fancy some chances today.
After grabbing the third spot in their respective debut appearances, Broughtons Charm, Meeting In Paris and Yahilwa are set to do wonders. The third-named deserves the vote, as she is open to more improvement. Good luck to all the fillies.
