I am using Shimano Mt bike pedals. I tried different shoes, but the problem persisted. I tried repositioning the cleat forward, but this was ineffective. should I get new shoes? new pedals? I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks

  1. I suggest changing pedal styles all-together. Try a pedal such as: http://www.danscomp.com/465133.php?cat=P...

The concaved surface is very comfortable. This pedal has lots of grip. It is also pretty light weight.

  2. I'm having the same issue with SPD cleats, and Shimano pedals. The bike guy I talked to recommended moving the cleat back to get more centered on the pedal.  If that didn't work, he suggested different pedals with a platform that would give more contact with the sole of the shoe.  Haven't had the chance to try either yet tho.

  3. try not to pedal on the ball of your foot, u r supposed to pedal with the tip of your foot.

  4. After a long cycle I get numbness in the ball of my foot- I use toe straps rather than cleats- but it usually only lasts a couple of days and I just accept it but severe pain is something that you should perhaps consult your Doctor about just to ensure that you aren't causing any damage to the tendons or bones.
