If you were to serve for the United States Army or Marines, would you be able to keep, for instance, your firearm(s), sights/scopes, weapon lights, knives, body armor, uniform, helmet, etc.?

  1. You can keep your uniforms and clothing and maybe a few things, but not firearms  and equipment.  You might be able to sneak out some things.

I roomed with the supply sergeant at one base and when he got discharged he didn't leave empty handed.

  2. you get to keep all your uniforms, but as far as weapons, sights, and body armor and helmet, you turn those all in,those are way too expensive to just give out.  The helmet alone is almost 500 bucks.  Alot of guys bought their own body armor to use, so of course they got to keep that.

  3. Uniforms (ACU/BDU/ACS, boots, gloves, belt, etc.) yeah, you get to keep those. Equipment, no. Obviously, you can keep any optics or weapons accessories you bought or any gear you bought, like for example, you bought some rail covers, or a foregrip, or whatever. Its simply too expensive for the military to hand out equipment like party favors.
