Question:

After shoplifting, are you banned from all Wal-Mart stores?

I admit this was an incredibly stupid thing to do, but years ago I shoplifted at Wal-Mart. I was caught and definitely paid for it, (charged, served community service, etc) and have never done so since. I know I was told that I was banned from the Wal-Mart store I was caught at, but does that also mean I am banned from all stores?

How do they check that? If I have since married and don't have the same name anymore, should I be concerned? I have to make some returns there for gifts and I know they need personal information. I didn't know if that could be tracked. Obviously, I don't want to get in trouble again for something that happened so long ago, but I want to return these items. Any help would be appreciated!

  1. The store personnel have probably changed since your 'crime wave'...BUT:

If you are again caught in that store doing something illegal, you face additional charges such as criminal trespass.

Insofar as 'one store or entire chain' goes -  it's whatever store policy is.

  2. you are not banned from all the stores just that one. and as far as you being banned from that store i wouldn't worry about it because i noe someone who shoplifted from conway, was banned and still go in there all the time so dont worry about it. you'll be fine. plus you're married, and changed your name, what are they gonna do, look up everything on you before you were married? Nah, as far its concerned, you learned ur lesson, got married and now i believe you have a last name. nothing to worry about. trust.

  3. you are only banned from the store you shoplifted from.  And even then, you can probably shop at that same store. they wont really notice that your the one that shoplifted unless you did it recently.

  4. Im sure they don't keep your photo up after years of it happening. Relax, don't worry about it. You did your time. They can't track you down, do you know how many people shop at walmart every single day?

  5. I know at best buy that you are banned from all stores...but there is no way to really check. However you do sign paperwork saying you won't go in again and such. That way if you get in trouble again they can charge you with trespassing also.

  6. When you're banned from one store, you're banned from all stores in that chain.
