  1. No.

If your buying privately you may be in with a chance.

  2. No. Once you've signed the papers, you have executed a valid contract. You are now bound by the terms of that contract. I doubt it has a clause that allows you to void it if you change your mind.

  3. No cooling off period. Of course, if you are supposed to deliver a car as a trade in, or put money down, and haven't done that yet, and you have not taken delivery of the car, you can just not go back and buy it. If they have your trade in, or you gave them a check for a down payment, they are going to keep those items whether you buy the car or not. They may sue you for specific peformance, in other words take you to court to make you buy the car, but they'd be pretty stupid to waste the time. I'm guessing this i not a big mainstream dealership. If you have the stomach to take the abuse you're going to get if you don't follow through, you'll be able to get away with it. Sorry for the long answer, but there's even more to it than I put in here. Maybe spend a couple of hundred bucks talking to a lawyer. It will be worth it.

  4. No, Once you sign the papers to purchase a car you have completed a business transaction.  There is no 72 hour back out period when purchasing a vehicle.  That is why they offer test drives, and many places allow you to keep the vehicle overnight.  That is also why you know the terms of the loan prior to going into the Finance office.  Those are all your opportunities to say "no thanks."  After those papers are signed, and buyers remorse sets in it is no longer the dealerships problem... those papers are approved by the bank.  The only chance you have at not having the deal go through is to withhold any information they may need from you like a paystub or proof of residence, be warned though we can buy exceptions, and often will when we know the person is withholding it on the hopes of returning the car.

  5. Yes if you are buying from a large dealer.  Usually they give you 3 days (some 5-7) to change your mind.  Read the fine print and find out.

If you bought privately or from one of these small car lots they may not have given you that option.
