I was horrified yesterday morning when the COLORADO state franchise tax board seized my checking account, and depleted all of its contents. COLORADO did not contact me, I was totally unaware of their intentions. I am sure when I recieve the letter from my bank in the mail all will be revealed, but, I want to know, will they attach my bank account again?? Or, can they ???

  1. If you still owe them more after the first amount was taken and applied to what you owe, yes they can.

  2. Why did they do it in the first place? How much money are you in debt to them?

I don't anybody can just randomly seize your account, you have to have had some form of proceedings up to date

  3. If you have received no communication from the tax board, contact them.  You probably moved and the tax board does not have your current address.  You must find out how much money you owe them and arrange to pay what you owe, or submit tax returns or amended returns that reduce what you owe.

Before your bank account is seized, there are procedures that must be followed.   You might want to ask to meet personally with someone from the tax board and have them review your case, and give you a summary of your rights.

Of course the tax board can take your money again if you still owe them.
