  1. you ware the spacers until you go back

then theyll put your braces on

they use spaces to allow space [duh]

so they can slip a metal band on you molar.

    :]

  2. The Orthodontist leaves the spacers in for a certain time. When it has created the space he wants, he will take them out and will put a circular bracket around the tooth that had the spacers around it. This will be the back end of your braces and you will have two of these brackets ( kinda like a metal band around the back molar) on each side of your mouth, one set on the top teeth and one on the bottom. The day that he does this, he should put the whole set of braces on. After he puts the brackets in, he will glue tiny 'pads' on the front of each tooth, put the wire through them from one side of your mouth to the other and then he will use wire or rubber bands to connect the wire to each 'pad' on each tooth. Your teeth will hurt for a few days after he puts them on but it will feel better after a few days,

  3. im getting spacers on thursday.

but i know because i have researched for about a year (about braces)

after you get spacers, or separators, which usually is not longer than two weeks, you go back to your orthodontist and they take them off. right after that they put on braces.

    on the same day!!

    im super excited.

wanna know the process of getting them on?

i dont know literally step by step, but they get the spacers (which has one whole on each end) and they get some sort of floss thing and put it through the hole. they put to strings through it. then the press the spacer in between your molars (back teeth) and they just pull out the strings, and thats it! takes 5 minutes. the most spacers you can get is 8.

    DO'S & DONT'S*

    DO brush your teeth carefully.

DO take pain medicine 1 hour before your apointment.

DO eat soft foods. (see list below)

DON'T scrub them with your toothbrush.

    DON'T pick at them.

DON'T eat hard foods. (see list below)

    now for braces...

when you go to the ortho. they obviously take out he spacers.

    they clean your teeth.

    they dry your mouth.

    they put the glue.

    they put the bracket.

they use this machine to make it fry faster. (blue light)

    they put in the wire.

    they put in the colors.

they will show you how to floss and give you a list of foods to eat and not eat, but i will let you know some of them anyway. =]

    DO'S&DON'TS

DO take medicine 1 hour before you get them.

    DO brush your teeth carefully.

DO eat soft foods. (see list below)

DO floss and use mouth wash.

DO put on chapstick before you get them on. (they stretch your mouth for about 2 hours!! really wide)

    DON'T brush roughly.

DON'T eat hard foods. (see list below)

    DON'T ignore floss.

    FOODS TO EAT&AVOID.

    Eat soft foods, like:

    ice cream

    pudding

    jello

    mashed potatoes

    soup

    applesauce

    yogurt

    Don't eat hard foods, like...

    beef

    candy

    popcorn

    apple skin

anything hard that will cause harm to braces.

    GOOD LUCK! HOPE I HELPED!

remember... if your bracket brakes call the ortho ASAP.

    ps... some cute colors are:

    pink, green, silver!

stick to light colors... dark look too weird. (if you want to)

    avoid yellow and white.

yellow makes your teeth looks "not" clean.

if you get white food can stain, like ketchup.

    same for CLEAR braces.
