After the unions were destroyed by thatcher what has new labour done to defend Labours core voters?

Has life got better for the average family or person in the UK who was here before 97?

  1. New Labour's aim in 1997 was to strip the working class of any real choice in a general election, with the full knowledge that the  conservative party were then un-electable, this they achieved, and in the process they were able to s***w the Labour voter as and when it took their fancy.

Now thou the tables are turned and now Labour is not just fighting to win the next election, but it is probably fighting for its very existence.

This sad fact though has unfortunately not registered on the majority of New Labour MPs who neither care or are just plain ignorant, but most likely they are both.

Most Labour voters have now given up any real hope of New Labour ever being able to truly represent them in Parliament because now New Labour have very little in common with the traditional working class voter, who, for all you New Labour MPs WERE YOUR BREAD AND BUTTER.

And this is Tony Blair's legacy

  2. It would certainly seem that way from their performance over the past decade.

  3. Britain?

    I think you mean England,

Gordon Brown is trying to wipe England off the Map, by breaking England up into Regions,

He never mentions England or the English, we just have to be British now,

But that does not apply to the Scottish & Welsh people, eh?

  4. politicians only look out for themselves they do not give a toss about our country or the people of this country as long as they can get at our money to pay all there expenses and give them more houses so they can sell at a huge profit

  5. Divide and rule has been their hidden agenda. Famillies are better off living apart, single parents are rewarded for every new child they spawn. There is no community, no social glue that holds the masses together.

We now live in an atmosphere of suspicion because of their hashed together liberal policies on immigration and equality, we have no go areas in some cities, the young are so disenchanted and disengaged in normal life most are lost for ever.

For those of us concerned about the next generation they have seen to it that their lives won't be any easier than ours ,  state education system with its policies of equality and non competition has created a level playing field somewhere below most peoples aspirations. And for the few really grasping greedy pretentious working class who still hope to find a decent school for the darling genius, they have very kindly buried the grammar schools.

Labour have achieved this by duping the voter, by offering carrots(child tax credit/working tax credit) and by their shear contempt for ordinary people.

  6. Virtually no Western European country has had an economic boom as good as that in Britain.

France, Germany, and many of the other countries have had mass unemployment and falling wages, so it's all relative.

  7. One of Thatcher's main briefs whilst in power was to remove any organisation which provided a rallying point for the working class in this country. She achieved this by the decimation of the more powerful Trade Unions.

She worked on the principle of "divide and conquer" and described the UK as  " a nation of individuals, not communities". By allowing that to happen the population have left themselves open to being walked all over by the Government, employers and petty officialdom.

An individual is easily controlled, a group is not - which is why we find ourselves in today's situation with no alternative. Since 1997 this country has been turned into the largest surveillance society on the planet and suffers from an almost total breakdown of the social structure, because we have become that "nation of individuals" with the selfish attitude of "bugger you Jack, I'm alright" to suit.

  8. Yes....I'm g*y and Labour laws means that I am part of the UK average family...thanks Tony!
