After the 11th, why did Calzaghe's corner think that Joe needed a KO & Hopkins corner knew they had it won

Explain that Calzaghe fans? After the 11th, Joe's father was telling Calzaghe that he needed to stop Hopkins & Roach was telling Hopkins just to finish strong because they had it won.

Hopkins won only one round - the first! It would have been a Calzaghe round hadn't Hopkins shoved him down. The score was a COMPLETE joke! No wonder the Brits don't want to come here and fight. Hopkins taking long breaks when he was about to get KO'd was actually insulting to fight fans. Calzaghe's corner told him to get it done because of the history of boxing. How could someone actually score that fight in favor of Hopkins?

Ted Gimza had it 115-112 for Calzaghe

what fight were the last two watching,i don't understand why they went that way but 116-111 was not refelctive of this fight in any way.

Joes corner was pushing him, they just wanted him to ensure a good last round.

Hopkins corner was polishing his balls, just like they did for the whole fight. When your getting paid that kind of money you polish your fighters balls, you dont tell him the truth.

You were running your mouth after the Mayweather/Hatton fight. now you can't take that a British boxer beat an American boxer in HIS HOME COUNTRY LOL.

Hopkins knocked him down but couldn't even finish him off = pathetic.

Well, the fact that Calzaghe "slapped" B-Hop for 11 rounds,  I guess he deserves to win the fight (sarcasm). The problem with this whole "he landed more punches on B-Hop then Roy Jones is, B-Hop looked beat up in that fight with Roy and was, this fight, he looked like he could run a mile afterwards and had absolutely no visible damage! You can't tell me this blokes punches are of any quality if that's the case. Look, the vast majority of Calzaghes' career has been against bums, that's a fact, he JUST gained some shine from Lacey and that was late in his career, same with Kessler, but Kessler didn't look that impressive either to be honest with you and would have lost against many of the up and coming talents in this weight division. If Calzaghe can take Pavliks punches and not get knocked out and do his thing, then yea I'll admit the man is good, but he's not going to fight Pavlik cause he's scared, he doesn't want to be the old man in the room. But not being able to put a scratch on a 43 year old Hopkins is not winning any points.

They knew they were in Vegas, a place not exactly famous for it's honesty.   Byrd scored it for Hopkins, I guess she was watching another fight, but the point is, nothing is ever a sure thing, especially if it's left in the hands of the judges.

Quit crying *****.  Its not robbery when Hopkins landed LESS punches at a LOWER connect percentage.  Joe controlled the pace and was much more aggressive.  And Hopkins spent so much time holding and acting with the "low blow".  Its never easy to look good against Hopkins.  Ask Jones, Taylor, and Wright.  The fight was close yes, but Joe was the clear winner.  Your boy lost, get over it

Joe's dad is his trainer and he was winding Joe up because he wanted that spineless Hopkins knocked out....

Hopkins was boasting he was in jail...

Hopkins only had one decent punch in the 1st round and Joe took it like a man

Because of idiotic American judges and fans such as yourself would not know how to score a boxing match correctly and he thought he would get the visitor shafting.  the judges have it right Hopkins lost. stop tonguing the old mans testicles and move on.

Hopkins lost every round. I don't think Calzaghe goes down in the first round without the tripping and shoving - it was a good punch though. I give Hopkins credit for trying to end it early by KO. He knew he couldn't win 12 rounds against Calzaghe. B-Hop kept going for that one big punch. In the meantime, he ate leather at a two to one clip. Hopkins won the first round 10-8, then lost the next 11 rounds 10-9. Ya gotta face the facts!
