Question:

After the 2010 WC, is it going to become a downhill or uphill scenario for Australi?

I know I brought up this question before... but it got removed, so i'm asking it again...

Remember to regard the fact that MANY of the present cricket legends of the squad will probably retire:

My Opinion: Its downhill

REason:

One of the greatest, or actually, THE greatest legspinner Shane Warne retired, but not to fear! MacGill is here!... but now even he retired, but not to fear!..... Casson is here? NO... FREAKING...WAY! that guy spins like Piyush Chawla.... who isn't exactly someone who can sufficiently spin as proficiently as Shane Warne... or MacGill.

Next reason: After seeing U-19 tournament, where Australia got KILLED, i'm guessing they don't have a future.

This is why I think, that after 2010 WC, Australia will become a useless team. This can be compared to the scenario of the Windies in 1960's - 80's

  2. downhill

  3. Australia will agin win the WORLD CUP in 2011.

  4. sorry, things are not looking good for the Aussies in the future... without hayden, ponting, katich, and others, aus has no chance

  5. i think 2011 world cup not 2010 wc

why u said after 2010 wc

    australia is finish now

    and they r going down

  6. 2011 yes aussis r going down

  7. yer it is 2011. And I reckon we will probs go uphill because warne has been retired from one dayers for a long time. Anyway in One Dayers we don't necissarily need a spinner and with mitch johnson, brett lee, stuey clarke and shaun tait our bowlin department will be in good hands. Especially if Troy Cooley stays in charge of the bowlers. I think the Twenty20 domestic competition will be good for our chances as we might be able to try out a couple of Twenty20 specialists like Aiden Blizzard.

  8. only time will tell

sure we have lost a few legends of late however by 2011 so will other teams

its the natural progression of things

  9. They won't dominate in quite the same way ... that trend is already starting to occur. The sheer growth of India as a cricketing power, combined with its population, should see it take over as world no.1 if it focuses properly.

But there's no "West Indies slump" on the horizon either. Australians love cricket and they have well organised domestic competitions. They'll most likely stay in the top 3-4 nations for a few years yet.

The U19 results count for little - with a few exceptions like Ricky Ponting, Australian players tend to reach "Test class" later on, in their mid-late 20s. The IPL was a better indicator of Australia's depth ... some of the top performers were Australians who aren't nearing retirement and can't even get into the first XI!

  10. It is already downhill for the Aussies (they are not dominating the opponents as they were doing, e.g. in 2004)

They need to pick themselves up and the young players who have been sitting on the sidelines for ages now, need to put their hand up and perform ...

  11. Friend you seem to be someone who is really expecting the Australian team to collapse in the next two years instantly (........just like the WTC, America). But sorry my friend...its not gonna happen.

If you would have given me atleast one good reason............i would have thought for an answer for atleast 5 minutes and then write something.

Dude, a lack of spinner doesn't make a team use less.........................they did it in 2007 WC.......with no Shane Warne........no MacGill.......no Beau Casson. Brad Hogg and Andrew Symonds are enough to satisfy their spinning needs in One day cricket.

And if their U-19 team got KILLED in the U-19 world cup.....then my friend...our Indian team got RAPED & KILLED in the 2007 WC......yet we won T20.

Go to cricinfo.com............and follow their domestic.....Ford Ranger Cup..........and Pura Cup.........and KFC Cup tournaments. They have so many potential players that they can make a second Australian national side.....and still win the world cup.
