After the Hong Kong Vase In December, Snow Fairy misses the Dubai World Cup Carnival yet again after missing it in March 2011 owing to an injury
The five-year-old filly, Snow Fairy, daughter of Intikhab, out of Woodland Dream, first missed out on the Hong Kong Vase and now the filly will be sidelined for the Dubai World Cup Carnival 2012, at the Meydan Racecourse that begins on 5th January.
In December 2011, Snow Fairy was trying to set a record that had not been achieved by any other horse yet. She was out to target the Hong Kong Vase after winning the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup in Japan on 13thNovember 2011 at Kyoto.
However, the filly could not stand up for the test, while working at the Sha Tin track in Hong Kong, she incurred a severe injury that made her chances of participating in the Hong Kong Vase pretty bleak.
Red Cadeaux, had to step in for representing Ed Dunlop, the trainer.
At this time of the year, the connections thought of testing, Snow Fairy, for the Dubai World Cup Carnival, but that turned out to be futile as well because she is still struggling with her recovery phase, and she is not in a position to step up for
a responsibility as intense as the Dubai World Cup Carnival.
"Snow Fairy won't be going to Dubai”, Dunlop said.
“We made the carnival entries before she got her injury. At the minute she is recovering from it and we've not yet got to the stage where we'll decide where she starts. We'll think about that in a couple of months”.
Prior to this, earlier in March 2011, Snow Fairy was headed for the Dubai Sheema Classic which she missed due to a minor leg injury.
"It is a great shame, but the good thing is that the injury is not considered significant and is not career threatening”, stated trainer Ed Dunlop.
Missing the chance of being part of the Dubai World Cup Carnival last year due to an injury, and now once again the recovery period has deprived the daughter of Intikhab from participating in the Dubai World Cup.
However, Ed Dunlop seems quite convinced on the perspective that his filly will soon be racing by the summer and that he has no plans of retiring her whatsoever, she still has to win him way more races.
