  1. No they won't. The earthquake broke all their table tennis boards. And rackets.

  2. What does the earthquake have to do with anything?  It was an isolated incident, and unless their best players were buried under the rubble, I don't see the relevance.  As far as their long term prognosis as a tennis power, I think China shows significant potential.  Remember that Russia and the other Eastern Bloc nations were nowhere as tennis powers 20 years ago (with a couple of key exceptions like Romania and Czechoslovakia), it took time to develop.  Same thing with China.  The Chinese have never really had a tennis federation to train their players to compete on an international level until recently.  I think the next generation will be genuinely able to crack the top 10 on a pretty consistent basis.

  3. You're back.

Men's Singles and Doubles, they won't win any medal or make the quaterfinals. unless miracle happens.

Women's Singles, if Li Na is healthy, she can make the quaterfinals or win a bronze medal, I don't think she can win gold.

Women's Doubles, they won it in Athens but Li Ting retired from tennis. Sun Tiantian will partner Peng Shuai. They're not strong, possibly make the quaterfinals. China have a better chance to win this event because Yan Zi and Zheng Jie are former Aussie and Wimbledon doubles champions. They can make the semis or even win it. Partners will have to be compatriots. Unlike the WTA tour. Not many teams seem to be a threat except the Bondarenko and Williams sisters (venus was beaten by a chinese team in athens in doubles). They might win this event.

  4. They are easy in singles - the lone threat Li Na is having knee surgery.

Doubles is a different story.  China has the defending gold medalists in women's doubles and several top teams.

  5. uh.....do you keep up with doubles at all?

  6. The earthquake has nothing to do with tennis. Their women double team is strong and will at least win one of the medals. The chinese men will not win anything in tennis, you can bet on that...even at 40+ Michael Chang can still probably beat all men chinese tennis players in China.

  7. prolly not in tennis

    but lots in other stuff

btw i don't think earthquakes have much to do with sports
