Question:

After the ich is gone?

Ok, my hubby threw a lovely Coral beauty into my tank while I was on vacation. Ich followed two weeks later and all my fish died. (no QT) I now have a QT and an empty 30Gal Fowlr aside from my cleaner shrimp, emerald crab, 7 red legged herms, 2 snails and my Choco Chip Star. I couldn't add the proper meds for the ich because of my inverts and the ich annihilated everything in 2 days (before I could go purchase all the QT stuff) I know, I know. I should be ashamed, but here is my question.

(Before anyone wastes their time, I will be waiting 35 days before adding new fish and quarantining them first. I have read the life cycle of them and have it covered).

These slimy parasites are attaching themselves to my glass, I scrub every day and do water changes once a week because I don't want to disrupt the remaining inhabitants. Aside from doing what I'm doing now, does anyone have additional info for me?

  1. They sound more like copepods or flatworms, which are commonly a result of excessive amounts of organic material in the tank, especially the substrate.  Frequent gravel vacuumings and reduced feedings would likely bring the "slimy parasites'" population under control.
