  1. This answer assumes you are subscribed to Comcast Cable TV and plan on keeping it after Feb. 9th.

Nothing will change for you.  Comcast will make (have already made) all the changes necessary.  You will not notice ANY change.  You will only need a digital box when Comcast tells you you must get one. It will be when they go all digital and scramble channels.  That will NOT happen on Feb. 9th. Only Over-the-Air broadcasts will stop, nothing else will change.

  2. If you have a TV that is considered "digital" (digital tuner) you are all set.  You do not need a digital converter box.  The change to digital broadcasting in Feb. 2009 will only affect the older analog sets that receive signals via "rabbit ears" or an externally mounted antenna.  They will require a converter box.   Please note that "digital" is not the same as HD (high definition).  Digital is a method of broadcasting a signal.  High definition refers to the picture quality of the signal or your TV's ability to display a high definition picture.   In the past and even now an analog signal can be a high definition signal.   The change over to all digital will begin in Feb. 2009.   Not all areas will complete the change at that time.   The differences between high definition and digital are getting a bit fuzzy due to manufacturers marketing strategies.

  3. if you have bunny ears or antennas on your tv you need a box if you have cable or satelite youll be ok

  4. If Your Plugged In to Direct Cable, and didnt have an HD tv, your channels will slowly start to disappear, by feb. 09, if you want to keep them you need to switch over to a digital box. (comcast or verison), also Id recommend That if You Get a Box, and You Didnt Have It Already, you should get an HD tv.

  5. So long has your TV has a digital tuner in it (labeled DTV, ATSC, Integrated Digital Tuner, HDTV) you should be okay in receiving digital signals from Comcast without the need of a set top box.

The set top box is used for those who use antennas to receive over-the-air digital signals and convert them to an analog signal so that their TV without a digital tuner can recognize it and receive a picture.
