After using a string trimmer/weed wacker, the line/string shortens, how do I get more to extend out?

  1. try bumping it on the ground when it shortens. It might be a bump feed instead of auto feed.


  2. It depends on the type of weed wacker you have.  Consult your manual to see if it is a bump or auto feed.  If it is a bump feed, you hit it on the ground to advance it.

    If it still doesn't feed, you should look to see if the string it tangled or stuck together.  That's what happened to me.  Or you could be out and need a new spool.

  3. Like the others said , check to see if it is a bump feed head, also look to see it could be a semi auto feed head  which means you have to manual pull and turn the head to release some more string .  Also check to see if your string is tangled or melted together, depending on the weedeater, some get really hot and melt the string together
