After visiting Miami Marlins’ ballpark Yoenis Cespedes leaves US – MLB News
After so much speculation that Yoenis Cespedes might not come to play in the Major League this season, not only did he visit his next potential team in the US, but experts believe that he will return probably in a month’s time to join the Marlins for next season.
Recently, he visited Miami Marlins’ ballpark and is now going back to his temporary residence in the Dominican Republic. Though reports are coming in the media that he is leaving US soon but still this is not confirmed yet as he might be staying in the country to begin his professional career in MLB. His agent Adam Katz however, said, “Nothing is scheduled for now, we had a good meeting with the Marlins management, they made a very impressive presentation. Discussions are ongoing and productive. But there are several other teams in the mix."
In the meanwhile, Cespedes, who defected from Cuba, is currently pushing hard towards getting permission from US authorities to play in Major League Baseball next season. Earlier, after arriving at Miami airport, Cespedes had told the media, “There is no doubt that I would like to play in front of so many Cubans in Miami, I will not deny that I would like to play for the Miami Marlins which is good team. I’ve seen the players the Marlins have signed lately, and I think this club can compete for the World Series.”
Cespedes is a talented player and experts do believe that he possess some huge skills to make it into Major League Baseball. Currently, the Marlins, Cespedes himself and his agent are trying hard to negotiate with the US government and making things somewhat easier for him for a smooth entrance into the country.
The initial difficulty he had to face was his status as a free agent. MLB declared him a free agent as soon as he got his nationality in the Dominican Republic. But suddenly some official matters came up as he will not be given permission until cleared by the US government. The next few days are critical to see if Cespedes will be making his way into the MLB, until then, everyone is just curious to know what his future will be.
