To see what they are able to accomplish with the hard work of people, it makes me scared as an American, because it looks as though China is far superior.

  1. No.

  2. I'm sure all the countries in NATO could take China....

  3. What is there to be scared about?

Even if they did become aggresive, they would be very formidable in a ground war, but they have hardly any sea or air power.

Not even 1 billion people can swim the pacific. The absolute worst thing they coud do is attack countries in and around Asia. Thailand should be trembling.

  4. The nationalism that makes people afraid of accomplishment in other nations is what scares me.  We should be pleased at the ability of societies with which we can trade.

To be fair to your fear, I believe that a great amount of nationalism exists in China as well.  It sickens me that so much talent may be used to foment international conflict when such small minorities benefit.

  5. China did look very good in the opening ceremony, but did you also see all the Chinese protesters throughout the games? I don't think China could become a world power without the support of its people.

  6. I haven't watched one minute of the Olympics.  It's football season, man!

  7. Scared of what? Yes, we know that the Chinese have a lot of people in the army, but that doesn't make them good. The U.S. has a smaller army than China, but we are more advanced and more well trained.
