After withdrawing on a policy, how long does it usually take to recieve the money?

  1. It can take a few days just to get the check printed out.  At the insurance company I worked at, we needed to put a request into the system for a check.  If it was a small enough check compared to the cash value of the policy, the check would print out the next day and then be mailed, where it would then be subject to the delivery abilities of the U.S. Postal Service.  If it was a large check, there might be an extra day in there while they confirm the current cash value of your policy.

    Note that most insurance companies allow you the option of paying extra to send out the checks overnight or some other method of expedited shipping.  Note that "overnight" means overnight after the check has been printed out.


  2. It really depends on the company. Typically anywhere from 2-6 weeks a check should come in the mail.
