After you report someone to INS....?

how long does it usually take for them to go pick the illegal up? does it depend on where the illegal is living? please help, thanks

Unless they have committed a crime (other than being here in the first place), it could take a really long time, if ever.

Due to resource limitations, not each and every call will result in an investigation and detention.

Even if they are investigating, it may be a while before ICE detains an individual. There isn't a set answer for this.

Well seeing that that INS disbanded a few years ago it would be very difficult to report a person to them! So you hypothetcial question can not occur as that organization no longer exists.

Perhaps you are referring to USCIS?
