Question:

After your stretch marks appeared, did they continuously get worse?

I am currently 28w3d pregnant with my first baby. Just recently, I have noticed a few tiny stretchmarks on my b*****s and hips. So far my belly is still clear *knock on wood*. The ones on my b*****s showed up around 23 weeks and have pretty much stayed the same but the ones on my hips JUST showed their ugly face.

At this point, they are quite small and barely noticeable to people other than myself. But what worries me, is I still have 11.5 weeks to go until I have this baby. I have been putting creams and oils on myself since 6 weeks, AND my mom has no stretch marks... but I still seem to be getting some tiny ones.

So for those of you that have stretchmarks, did they just keep getting worse and worse once you first noticed them? Or once they showed up, did they stay pretty much the same?

At this rate, I'm afraid of what I'm going to look like at 40 weeks!

Thanks Ladies! :o)

  1. iam 33 weeks and somehwere in the 20weeks mark i got some on my hipps too and then i noticed it on my butt which is whatever becasue noone will see but me and hubby but still. i havnt goten any on my tummy either hopefully wont but they say the last month is when we grow the most so thats when usually strechmarks come. ahhh

  2. I got my first stretch mark at about 5 months along and it was maybe an inch long on my belly and that was it. It wasn't until about 36 weeks though and my belly exploded with stretch marks along with my belly getting really big fast! My belly was so itchy during that time and I constantly put lotion on but it didn't keep the stretch marks away. My Mom and her Mom had both gotten them pretty bad while pregnant but they faded up pretty good so it isn't so horrible to have them...at least I don't think so because I've got an awesome little boy now.

Every womans experience with stretch marks will be different.

  3. My sister has them on her chest and after having 3 boys and after years they have got thicker.... She told me putting lotion on everyday will prevent them from getting worse.  But the zinc supplement sounds like the way to go.  And I heard ma-derma  or whatever helps...

  4. I personally never noticed NOT EVEN ONE stretch mark on my body while pregnant.  I checked too.  LOLL

But AFTER I had my son is when they came.  They may not get worse during pregnancy but they may be more noticeable after your body starts to take its before pregnancy shape.  (or whatever it will go back to) LOLL

  5. Lucky you, is all I have to say.

I started getting stretch marks on my b*****s from the get-go, but then again I've gone up 3 cup sizes.

I started getting them on my hips at around 16 weeks, and they have gotten really out of control. I don't know why, but I have them everywhere, including my b*****s, hips, thighs (inside and out), bottom, lower back, behind my knees, and they're starting to creep down to the backs of my calves.

Not very flattering on a 19-almost 20-year-old, right?

But it's all worth it in the end, I suppose =]

And I shouldn't complain too much, because they haven't seemed to give much thought about jumping over to my belly.

Just keep rubbing in those cremes and such, and hope for the best!

    Congratulations on your baby!! =]

  6. i'm almost 35 weeks and i have a few on my lower belly.. and on my thighs. the ones on my thighs keep getting worse. I really hope the ones on my belly stay as they are... stretch marks are going to happen or they aren't, and there's nothing you can do to prevent them .not even lotion or oils...

people before you thumbs down me, go look it up!

  7. dont sweat it! cant do anything about them but do try at least and continue using your creams and stuff. pregnancy is a wonderful thing and believe me...wasting your time worring about s/marks is pathetic. all you can do is lotion your body up, drink plenty water, eat healthy and walk.

and just to answer your question...im 35 weeks and 1/2

i have a few down-down below my tummy s/marks and they are just getting a lil' redder...no signs of them getting thicker/longer.

  8. Mine continued to get worse...I personally feel like using cocoa butter is an old wives tale...I used it and it did nothing...I'm sure everyone is different...And the weirdest thing of all is the stretchmarks appear over night...Best of luck to you!!!

  9. Well, I'm 27 weeks. Before I was pregnant, I had probably 4 or 5 stretchmarks on my stomach...but now there are more and they are growing closer and closer to my bellybutton and they burn and itch! I'm not going to use cocoa butter because It's not like I'm going to wear a bikini or belly top after the baby is born, so I don't really worry about it. But I do use Vaseline Intense Moisture in Cool Cucumber scent...it works well to hydrate my skin that has stretchmarks and soothes them. I guess it just depends on your skin elasticity whether or not you will get more stretchmarks.

  10. Hi,

I used to have pretty bad stretch marks and red scars around my belly region ever since I gave birth to my three kids.I had tried Vitamin E oil and cocoa butter which a number of people had recommended but unfortunately it didn't seem to work too well. My Doctor had even suggested that I go for a Tummy Tuck. I then recently read an article about a lady who supposedly got rid of her stretch marks using a particular cream. I tried it and it worked really well. It took a number of weeks but my stretch marks soon faded away. You can read the lady's article at the link below.

  11. Zinc deficiency is a common cause of stretchmarks. Go to a pharmacy or health food store and get yourself a zinc supplement. I got a lot of stretchmarks in my first pregnancy and, in hindsight, I was definately low on zinc. I took zinc second time around and it actually helped to reduce the appearance of the ones I already had and I didn't get any more.

  12. I got to seven months without a single one and then ..... whammo!! Huge great stretchmarks all over my belly overnight - what a shock!

  13. mine got bigger with time, but im sure it is different with every woman. you should continue to use cocoa butter all over, even the places that already have stretch marks. it will help to reduce what is already there, and hopefully prevent more from coming!
