Aftercare Instructions?

Question

What am I supposed to do after getting a tattoo to prevent from infections and other conflicts with getting a tattoo?

Im getting it on the sides of my finger sometime next week and I want to make sure that nothing goes wrong.

tattoos on your hands are tricky just make sure that you keep the area clean and you might want to keep a bandage on it if you know your going to be doing something that might make it really dirty or irritate it

nothing will go wrong! you just have to make sure you follow your aftercare instructions properly! :)

your tattoo artist will tell you exactly what to do!

i wash mine 2-4 times a day with un-scented body wash(DONT use bar soap bc it is full of bacteria.) you also need an ointmet & lotion. i use a&d ointment. you can find it in a cvs store. i also use curel lotion. you can also find that in cvs. hope i helped :)

do not keep it bandaged, only for about and hour if they wrap it when you leave-it needs to breathe to heal. wash it once or twice a day (but no more than that because it will dry out, and it needs to stay moist) with antibacterial soap (for obvious reasons, its pointless to use non antibacterial soap) for 5 days. apply aquaphor (or tattoo goo) to it twice a day for 5 days, or more if it seems dry. if you use A & D (which you really shouldnt do!!!) only apply a super thin layer or else your skin will break out and most likely scar your tattoo ( i had this happen to me, so now i use aquaphor instead-which can be found at the pharmacy). After 5 days, depending on how dry and scabby it still is, you should apply non-scented lotion for another 10 days, or until its fully healed and no longer dry!!!

p.s. do not use vaseline or any other petroleum based products!!!
