Question:

Aftermarket Hid problems G35

I installed aftermarket hid bulbs on my Infiniti G35. Using the stock ballast and harness but different bulbs *8000k*. I had it for about 6 months working fine and now the passenger side bulb will flicker when engine starts and turn off but the driver side is ok. Can you give me any advice to resolve this situation.

Thanks for your time.

  1. I don't know much about your problem--but I would suggest using xenon lights. They are brighter from your point of view but actually bother incoming traffic less than HID's. They are also a nicer and better color for visibility; many say they are blue but they aren't those ugly *** extremely blue lights, they are very slightly blue but they are actually closer to being true white light than normal headlights which are even more yellow than xenons are blue. You'll see better and so will everyone else.

  2. It could be the bulb

  3. I think you have a higher (higher than the standard) lumen bulb, and it will produce more heat.  Make sure nothing melted in there.  Some headlamp enclosures can't handle that much heat.  Check the wires to see if any of the insulation melted/burned.

You can swap the bulbs.  Put the left one in the right, and the right one in the left.  See where the bulb flickers.  That will give you and idea if it's the bulb or the ballast.

  4. check out g35driver.com.  Headlight problems are common it seems and you'll probably find your answer on there.

  5. That's what happens when you only do half the conversion.

  6. Use a ballast made for your bulbs. I wonder if the stock bulbs will still work, or did you wreck the ballast with too much draw?
